Tasting notes
70% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 10% others. Ripe, fruit-driven nose with reasonably soft structure and good cherry and raspberry fruit persisting through the finish. Has the volume of Châteauneuf but also some of the elegance that is more often missing. (RH)

Leading off the reds, the traditional 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape offers textbook darker berry fruits as well as lots of dusty/sandy/loamy soil notes in a concentrated, voluptuous package that’s going to keep for a decade. This cuvée is largely Grenache, yet includes 10% each of Mourvèdre and Syrah, as well as 10% other varieties. It’s partially destemmed and aged in tank.
