Tasting notes
Based on 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and 5% each Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Proprietary Red reveals graphite, cassis, darker crushed stone, and hints of tobacco. Medium to full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, it shows iron and black olive notes, with ripe, polished tannins and a beautiful texture. This serious effort will evolve nicely for 15-20 years.

Blankiet's main bottling is the 2022 Proprietary Red Paradise Hills Vineyard, a blend of 77.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11.8% Merlot, 5.4% Petit Verdot and 4.9% Cabernet Franc. Crushed stone, pencil shavings and cinnamon accent black olives and ripe cherries on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is supple and creamy in feel, lush and long, with great length and focus on the finish.
The 2022 Proprietary Red Paradise Hills Vineyard is a potent, brooding wine. A blast of dark cherry, plum, mocha, new leather, licorice and espresso wraps around the palate. Soft, creamy contours lend raciness. The Proprietary Red is usually a bit more structured, but in 2022, the extreme heat melted away some of that firmness. This is quite good.
