Tasting notes
Intensely spiced, the 2023 Estate Reserve mixes cedar box, pine, incense, dried sage, crushed stone and mentholated blackberries. It is youthfully dense, tightly focused, silken yet almost sultry in character, with mineral-encased red and black fruits that flood the senses, leaving a coating of edgy tannins in their wake. Heroically structured and incredibly long, the 2023 leaves a minty freshness to counterbalance a tart blackberry saturation through the long, tension-filled finale. Bury this unbridled beast in the cellar. The 2023 is a blend of 50% Syrah, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot and was aged for 21 months in 85% new French oak.

Lastly, the 2023 Estate Reserve is a riveting barrel sample that should rank with the greatest vintages of this cuvée ever produced. Pure cassis, blue fruits, graphite, and crushed stone notes all give way to a medium to full-bodied, concentrated red that has finely polished tannins, just about flawless balance, and a gorgeous finish. The blend is 50% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Petit Verdot. If you get the chance, don't miss it.
About the producer
