Tasting notes
Red and black fruits, iron, leather, damp flowers, and violet nuances all emerge from the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Terraces Vineyard, a medium to full-bodied, beautifully pure, polished, and elegant 2023 that has ripe, polished, yet building tannins, a great mouthfeel, and outstanding length. I love its overall complexity and nuance, and while it can be drunk today with ample pleasure, it's going to see its 20th birthday in fine form. There are 273 cases produced. Drink 2025-2043.

The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Terraces is a potent, brooding wine. Dark-toned fruit, gravel, dried herbs and licorice make a strong opening statement. There's good fruit intensity, but I also get the impression this is still coming together. The stronger oak imprint compared to the other wines in the range suggests there might be a bit less inherent concentration and overall depth. Even so, the 2023 is quite attractive. The Oakville Terraces is quite attractive, but it's a bit lighter on the palate than the other wines in this range. I am accustomed to seeing wines with greater textural depth from this site.
From a site just below Dalla Valle, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Terraces offers up scents of black cherries, slightly herbal leanings and hints of redcurrants. It's full-bodied, structured and focused, with tannins and texture that come across as more silky than the typical Thomas Rivers Brown deep plushness.
Juicy blue fruits, liquid violets, black olive, and darker chocolate notes emerge from the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Terraces, another sensational 2023 that has purity, richness, and depth paired with elegance and nuance.
