Tasting notes
Balsamic notes and ripe black fruits. Perhaps less finesse and roundness and more sinew than the 2011. Lots to chew on – really satisfying. Complex and subtle. No excess of alcohol though the tannins stand out more than on the 2011. (JR)

The 2010 PINTAS, seen both in the USA and Portugal, is surprisingly good for this vintage, which sometimes will seem underrated if you choose well. If it does not quite have the sex appeal of the 2009, it is more graceful and seems quite lovely. Rather restrained and understated in this vintage, it nonetheless consistently improves in the glass, showing both finesse and persistence. It does need to prove it can stay at peak and develop some over a reasonable time in the cellar, as to which there is at least some question. As always---it wouldn’t be Pintas otherwise—it is quite tasty, infused with fruit flavor while not at all seeming candied or cloying. Drink now-2023.
