2019 Bourgueil Pied de la Butte

The 2019 Bourgueil Le Pied de La Butte is made in a light-bodied style with masses of refreshing acidity that bursts like a just-opened dam on the finish. It's a little closed at the moment, but if you look a bit harder there's creamy black fruit, pencil lead and flavors reminiscent of waffle cone. The burly Bourgueil tannins present themselves on the finish, adding gourmandise chew. Young and sinewy, it needs three to five years, but the modest concentration suggests this is a short- to medium-term proposition.
