Drink 2029-2040, Vinfolio, Oct 2025

The 2024 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru from Henri Boillot is a wine of both tension and power. Acquired in grapes and pressed at the domaine, it opens with a restrained but compelling bouquet of citrus zest, green apple, white flowers, and mineral reduction, underpinned by subtle hints of oyster shell, iodine, and freshly baked bread. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and satiny, unfurling layers of pineapple, mango and juicy nectarine that are balanced by a chalky, pithy freshness. There’s a vibrating core of energy at its heart, driving the focused, mineral intensity through to a long, saline, and bone-dry finish. Structured, precise and humming with vitality, this is a beautifully sculpted Corton-Charlemagne built for long ageing.

The impression here is depth but it’s quite closed at first. Smells a little of smart oak. Deep, rich and embryonic. It’s very good but expensive, sadly now typical for burgundy. Chewy, intense, very long, incipient harmony and complexity. (JH)

Fresh mid lemon. A fine concentration of fresh stony soil, with a little barrel toast. Much more linear of course, though with adequate flesh on the bones. Definite intensity.
