Score 89+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous
Very saturated deep red-ruby. Sappy aromas of black cherry, cola, licorice and maple syrup. Not particularly sweet but offers good ripeness for the year; initially a bit hard, but showed a pliancy with aeration, along with intriguing mineral and vegetal elements (Campbell calls the latter quality "advanced greenness," noting that it is a function of soil and site rather than underripeness.) Expands impressively on the back end.
