Tasting notes
The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Concrete Aged emerges from mostly older vines and sees a bit of skin contact on the press. Apricot, chamomile, dried flowers, mint and a kiss of tangerine peel are beautifully amplified in the glass. Bottling without filtration results in a wine that is a bit cloudy relative to most commercial Sauvignon Blancs. That should be of no concern to consumers. The 2023 is a total knockout. It's a world-class white at an extremely fair price.

Full bottle 1,443 g. 100% whole-cluster pressed to concrete egg. Inoculated, with fermentation carried out at cold temperature for several weeks. Aged on the original lees for months. Malolactic blocked. Unfiltered and unfined. Medium lemon. Completely different from their stainless-steel SB – much more subtle on the nose. It smells like concrete and lemons. Acidity feels much higher and more linear and there's a teensy bit of spritz on the palate and not as much broadness from lees – the slight green-pepper note remains alongside a lemony finish. I don't think it's better than the stainless (I actually prefer the more evident fruit of the stainless) but it is slightly more persistent on the finish. (SCJ)
