Score 87/100 · Drink 2018-2023, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Aug 2018

Deep garnet colored, the 2007 Proprietary Red Wine opens with evolved fruit notes of baked blackcurrants, stewed plums and dried mulberries with hints of figs, leather, balsamic, dried Provence herbs and dusty earth. Full-bodied, the palate is fully mature, giving up somewhat rustic leather and earth layers with a chewy frame and grippy finish.

(14.8% alcohol): Bright medium ruby. Distinctly roasted black fruits and tropical dark chocolate on the nose. Fat, ripe and sweet; atypically chocolatey for a wine from this producer but still maintains sound acidity. Finishes with big, building, tongue-dusting tannins and notes of cola and dark chocolate. (A second bottle was actually a bit more porty and extreme.)

Bordeaux blend (71% Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc). Quite reticent on the nose. Rich and opulent start but then the freshness of Cab Franc kicks in. Very muscular. Neat finish. (JR)

(a 71/29 blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc) Good deep red-ruby. Lovely violet lift to the dark cherry and licorice flavors. Suave, juicy and energetic, with terrific inner-mouth aromatic appeal to the sweet berry and floral flavors. Not an opulent style but plenty sweet for 2007. Finishes with lovely length, firm but fully ripe tannins and lingering minerality. Delia Viader told me she's really proud of this wine, and that she only said that previously about the 1997 and 1991.
