Tasting notes
Sitting above Les Charmes, at the same altitude as Montrachet and Caillerets, Perrières is protected on the east and west by woodland. It’s a star Premier Cru, arguably Meursault’s best site. There are two barrels in 2024 chez Alvina, one of which is new. The nose is chalky and mineral with floral lift – pretty and dainty, shifting endlessly. The palate is packed with vibrant citrus, zesty notes dancing across the weight of fruit – rich peach and vivid apricot. There are hints of spicy oak, but with mouthwatering, saline freshness and the scent of oystershells on the long finish. A beautiful wine.

The 2024 Meursault Perrières ler Cru has a delicate bouquet with light petrichor and dew speckled green apple scents that unfurl in the glass, perhaps not as powerful as some Perrières but very precise. The palate is fresh and delineated with superb mineralité and tension, gently fanning out towards the finish with citrus peel and a hint of Clementine. This should age beautifully in bottle.
A supply of purchased fruit which will stop next year. Mid lemon yellow, both fresh and concentrated on the nose, with the yellow fruit and stony character of the vineyard. Then very different on the palate – for the minute I was reminded of goat’s cheese which happily proved ephemeral – and a strong salinity.
About the producer

Alvina Pernot is one of the most exciting producers of white Burgundy today. Based in Puligny-Montrachet with some incredible vineyards, this is a name to watch – creating taut and mineral styles of white Burgundy.
