The 2017 Corton La Vigne Au Saint Grand Cru lacks some fruité on the nose compared to its peers, feeling a little sullen at present. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity and plenty of harmony. This is one of the fleshier Cortons this year, supported by some tangible oak on the finish, but that will be absorbed with time. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

The 2017 Corton Grand Cru La Vigne Au Saint opens in the glass with aromas of sweet wild berries, grilled meats, dark chocolate and woodsmoke. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, vibrant and nicely concentrated, with a deep core of fruit, tangy acids and fine but youthfully chewy tannins. This will need some time, but it's a promising Corton.
The 2017 Corton La Vigne Au Saint Grand Cru includes 35% whole clusters this year. It has a fragrant bouquet of red plum and crushed strawberry fruit infused with wilted rose petals; a strong limestone scent emerges with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and a fine bead of acidity. There is an attractive strictness and linearity to this wine, which is quite saline toward the finish. Afford this Grand Cru three or four years in bottle, though I am not so convinced about its long-term viability.
