Tasting notes
The 2021 Pinot Noir Larmes de Grappe is a special bottling derived from the Sanford & Benedict Vineyard fermented entirely whole cluster and aged in new French oak. The result is a lifted and spry rendition driven by dried floral, citrus peel and petrichor aromas, capturing the understated grace of the vineyard and framing it with judicious polish. The finish is succulent and juicy before taking an earth-tinged, rustic turn, adding a tasteful dose of old-school charm. It's a highlight of the classic Au Bon Climat lineup.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Larmes des Grappes is a super-classic Au Bon Climat wine. Crushed flowers, cedar, tobacco, spice and dried herbs all race out of the glass. Readers should expect a cool-climate wine with strong stem character from the 100% whole bunches and less in the way of overt fruit. The 2021 spent two years in 100% new 350-liter barrels, although the oak is not especially evident.
