Tasting notes
Half fermented in foudres (new) and half in 300-litre barrels. From tank. Lovely fragrance here, finesse and tension but with a light creamy oak note and a touch of spice. Super-creamy on the palate even without lactic acidity (there was little malic in 2017 thus not much lactic after malo). Full but precise. Refined and complete. Long and fresh. (JH)

(unlike the Abbaye de Morgeot, these vines were not frosted in 2016): High-pitched aromas of lemon, lime, menthol and anise. Penetrating and bone-dry but not at all lacking in texture; offers surprising breadth and a flavor of lime zest complicated by salty minerality. Best today on the finish but showing less personality and lift than the Abbaye de Morgeot. The two wines are quite different in personality, with this one, from higher on the hillside, lower in acidity (just 3.2 grams per liter, according to Leroux) but higher in alcohol. (13.1% alcohol)
