Tasting notes
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is another fabulous wine from Pride in this vintage. It offers a striking mix of freshness and ripeness, finesse and power. Floral overtones, blood orange, cinnamon and star anise lead into dark red/purplish fruit, mint and sweet pipe tobacco. The floral, effusive finish is captivating.

Lastly, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve checks in as 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, and the rest Merlot that was brought up in 55% new oak. Its slightly deeper ruby/plum hue is followed by a gorgeously concentrated, medium to full-bodied 2022 that has classic varietal notes of darker currants, smoky tobacco, graphite, and scorched earth. With terrific mid-palate depth, ripe tannins, and outstanding length, it's going to benefit from just 2-3 years of bottle age and evolve gracefully over the following 15 years or more.
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve features more obvious cedar than in the regular bottling, despite only seeing 55% new French oak. It sits nicely alongside black olives and black cherries on the nose, while the full-bodied palate boasts softly dusty, powdery tannins. It's nicely balanced, more of a beauty than a beast, although it would still benefit from short-term cellaring.
