Tasting notes
Aged for 11 months on lees in French oak (22% new). Sweetly spiced oak on the nose and candied citrus fruits to go with it. Serious and savoury on the palate, thanks to the acidic nerve throughout, and juicy tangerine fruit lingers on the finish. Excellent reflection of cool-climate Chardonnay. (RH)

The 2022 Chardonnay Kroon has a laid-back nose, with light orchard fruit intermixed with almond and citrus peel. I'm just looking for a little more attack. The palate ups the ante with a fresh opening, quite Burgundian in character like the 2020. It's nimble and precise on the finish. I would just chill this a degree below average, and it should gain some aromatics precision. Fine.
More Chablis-esque in its restrained fruit compared with their single-vineyard bottlings. Finishes with a likeable creamy texture. Mild-mannered, with the citrus fruit kept understated. (RH)
