Tasting notes
(14.7% alcohol) Dark red. Sappy, superripe aromas of black cherry, black raspberry and cola. Large-scaled, fat, chewy and sweet; the thickest of these 2001 pinots, with briary black and red fruit flavors complicated by notes of spice, licorice and bitter chocolate. A very opulent wine with big but sweet tannins.

The deep saturated ruby-colored 2001 Pinot Noir Old Vine Reserve exhibits a fragrant bouquet of earth, beetroot, sweet cherries, and strawberries. Cote de Beaune-like in style, it possesses loads of character, superb intensity, and more noticeable structure in the finish than its siblings. Give it 1-2 years of cellaring and enjoy it over the following decade. Tel. (707) 823-2378; Fax (707) 823-0918
