Tasting notes
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard is the most overt wine in this range. Then again, that's Tench. Succulent dark cherry, chocolate, leather, licorice, menthol and dried herbs meld together in a deep, resonant Oakville Cabernet loaded with richness and power. The 2017 is dense, deep and heady. It will appeal most to readers who like big, juicy Napa Valley Cabernets. This is the last Tench Cabernet from DuMol. Winemaker Andy Smith ultimately felt the personality of the site was not an ideal match for his style. To be sure, the other Cabernets in the range are more about nuance than power.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard is powerful and deeply layered, but also a bit subdued today. My sense is that the 2017 just needs time to come together. It will be interesting to see where things stand a year from now.
