Score 91/100 · Drink 2002-2010, Pierre Rovani, Aug 2001

The ruby-colored and herbal, berry-scented 1999 Echezeaux has a lush, medium-bodied personality. It has outstanding harmony and gorgeously defined flavors of flowers, red berries, and blueberries, whose flavors last throughout its long, pure finish. Projected maturity: 2002-2010. Importers: A Peter Vezan Selection, Paris fax #011-33-1-42-55-42-93, and also represented by Russell Herman, Berkeley Heights, NJ; tel. (908) 771-9082.

Excellent ruby-red. Lovely pungent aromas of blackberry, currant, violet, mint and nutty oak. Not a large or particularly fat wine but offers lovely precision of flavor and lively acidity. Chewy, vibrant and rather elegant. Finishes with fine tannins and compelling fruit.
