Score 93/100 · Drink 2022-2032, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2021

The 2017 Cinq Cépages is jam-packed with inky-dark fruit, crème de cassis, chocolate, cloves and licorice. Dense and full-throttle, the Cinq packs a serious punch. The Cinq is undoubtedly racy, but not as opulent as it can be. This is a fine showing for the Cinq.

Score 89/100 · Drink 2020-2032, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Oct 2020

The 2017 Cinq Cepages Proprietary Red Wine is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot, aged for 20 months in French oak, 68% new. Deep garnet-purple in color, the nose displays evocative notes of Black Forest cake, black raspberries, boysenberries and stewed plums with touches of underbrush, smoked meats and tobacco leaf. Full-bodied, the palate is slightly chewy and a little rustic, nonetheless giving up a good amount of baked black fruits and spicy accents, finishing a tad hard. Nearly 6,300 cases were made.
