Tasting notes
Maybe one of the greatest Pinot Noirs from the Santa Lucia Highlands, the 2013 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard offers sensational notes of cassis, black raspberries, crushed rocks, spice and dried flowers to go with a full-bodied, layered, supple and seamless style on the palate. Coming from the decomposed granite soils on the southern end of the appellation, fermented with 15% whole clusters and aged in 50-70% new French oak (of which there's no trace), drink this fabulous Pinot Noir anytime over the coming decade.

Brilliant ruby. Intensely perfumed aromas of cherry and boysenberry, with energetic mineral and floral notes adding vivacity. Fresh dark berry and cherry flavors show excellent depth, with zesty acidity contributing energy and back-end lift. Takes a spicy turn with air, picking up notes of star anise and clove. Finishes sweet and sappy, with outstanding persistence, a whisper of tannins and lingering spiciness.
