Tasting notes
The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Pot Bois is quite reduced on the nose making the aromatics difficult to read at the moment. The palate has more clarity with mandarin and light mango notes and a taut line of acidity with a back note of spice towards the finish. Good length. Promising.

As readers will remember, the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Village derives from the prime hillside lieu-dit Pot Bois (whereas most Chassagne-Montrachet at communal level derives from rich soils on the plain). Unwinding in the glass with scents of citrus oil, buttery pastry, crisp white peach and nutmeg, it's medium to full-bodied, with a satiny attack that segues into a taut, concentrated mid-palate. Racy and penetrating, it's a terrific effort.
