1994 Orion Syrah

(13.3% alcohol): Good deep ruby-red. Distinctly blacker fruits on the nose than the 1993, with complicating nuances of licorice and eucalyptus and an intriguing treble note of orange zest. Rather plush on entry, then stony, backward and dry in the middle, with lovely inner-mouth perfume to its orange zest and floral flavors. This firmly structured Orion finishes with serious, granular tannins and a juicy quality that leaves the mouth feeling fresh. Still evolving.
