Deep ruby. Ripe cherry and black currant on the pungent nose, developing incense and garrigue nuances as the wine opens up. Gently sweet and broad in the mouth, offering densely packed black and blue fruits and floral pastille flavors and slow-building spiciness. Dusty tannins give shape and grip to a long, penetrating finish, which features lingering floral and smoke notes.

The 2011 Costieres De Nimes La Bolida (almost all Mourvedre) is a deep, structured and brooding effort that offers notions of graphite, leather, scorched earth and smoky black fruits on both the nose and palate. Medium to full-bodied, with good acidity, it has plenty of fruit that only partially conceals the underlying tannic structure. Give it a year once released and enjoy bottles through 2021.
