Tasting notes
The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is a beautifully made wine that comes close to being outstanding. It boasts a textbook cassis and eucalyptus-scented nose with oak in the background. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with excellent ripeness, clean fruit, and a long, spicy finish. It avoids some of the vintage's hard tannins. Mondavi is adding a number of new regionally labeled Cabernet Sauvignons to their portfolio. In addition to their Oakville cuvee, they have a Stags Leap District Cabernet, and a single vineyard wine from their famed To-Kalon plantation. Tel. Good medium-deep color. Currant, plum, leather, smoke and earth aromas, plus hints of tobacco and eucalyptus. Leanish and spicy on the palate; could use a bit more flesh and depth of flavor. Finishes with slightly drying tannins.
