Tasting notes
Bright medium ruby. Enticing if somewhat brooding perfume of blackberry liqueur, licorice and mint. Juicy, slightly minty wine with a distinct black fruit character. Boasts very good energy but comes across as a bit unyielding today owing to its strong but reasonably well-integrated acidity. This wine spreads out nicely with aeration to saturate the palate and linger, with its substantial firm, tongue-dusting tannins avoiding dryness. No easy sweetness here! (15.3% alcohol)

The 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a sinewy, muscular, dark ruby/purple-colored, tightly knit effort with copious quantities of earthy, black currant flavors, underlying elegance, a tight, compressed texture, and an austere finish. It will age nicely for 15-20 years, but how much charm and flesh it will develop is speculative. Tel. (707) 945-1220; Fax (707) 944-0744
