The 2017 Pinot Noir Troubadour is a little rustic, dried out and thin, certainly reflecting the challenges of the growing season. It’s past peak.

Bob Cabral recalls 2017 as "almost two harvests. We did a lot of picking before those massive Labor Day heat waves." Medium ruby-purple, the 2017 Pinot Noir Troubadour has detailed scents of wild berry jam, cinnamon stick, potpourri and amaro. The medium-bodied palate is firm, powerful and fragrant, with rounded acidity and a long, spicy finish.

Bob Cabral's 2017 Pinot Noir Troubadour is bright and punchy in its first impression. A rush of black cherry, lavender, rose petal, plum and sweet oak gives the 2017 its forward personality. Some slightly angular contours remain, though. For that reason, I would prefer to drink the 2017 sooner rather than later.
