Tasting notes
Brought up all in new Burgundy barrels, the not yet bottled 2020 Côte Rôtie Les Grandes Places reveals a saturated purple hue as well as a powerful, full-bodied style offering serous amounts of darker, cassis-slanted fruit, incredible density and opulence in its aromatics of smoked meats, leather, violets, and spicy oak, a stacked mid-palate, ripe yet substantial tannins, and a great finish. It's going to be for the instant gratification crowd, but this massive, dense, incredibly impressive Côte Rôtie is destined for greatness.

Inky ruby color. Highly perfumed aromas of mineral-accented blueberry, cherry liqueur, olive and pungent flowers, plus suggestions of licorice and allspice. Sappy and appealingly sweet, offering vibrant, sharply focused black and blue fruit, candied violet, exotic spice and violet pastille flavors that deepen slowly in the glass. Finishes juicy, spicy and tightly focused, showing outstanding energy, polished tannins and superb persistence.
