Score 90/100 · Drink 2006, Pierre Rovani, Jun 1999

The 1997 Pinot d'Alsace offers tropical fruit, candied orange, and floral aromas. It is a medium-to-full-bodied, silky-textured wine with exceptional density, richness, and broad red currant, poached pear, and chalk flavors. This wine has the generosity of fruit to be drunk immediately upon release as well as the backbone for aging. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel (510) 524-1524.
