The 2018 Clarke has a very attractive, well-defined nose of blackberry, raspberry and light mint aromas, all displaying impressive intensity and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite juicy for Listrac in this vintage, but certainly well balanced, with a sappy, graphite-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. This is a well-crafted, classically styled Château Clarke that should age with panache. Excellent.
The 2018 Château Clarke is mostly Merlot (there's usually 30% Cabernet Sauvignon) and offers a solid perfume of ripe red and black fruits as well plenty of classic tobacco and cedary herbs aromas and flavors. Fruit-froward, it has good mid-palate density and the balance to keep for a good 7-8 years.
About the producer
This property was purchased by Baron Edmond de Rothschild in 1973 who promptly started renovating the estate. Today Baron Benjamin de Rothschild and his wife Ariane continue his legacy, focused firmly on quality.
