Score 93/100 · Drink 2017-2032, Jeb Dunnuck, Jul 2017

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline Estate includes 9% Petit Verdot and a 5% Malbec. It offers terrific blackcurrant, cassis, tobacco leaf, lead pencil and earth aromas and flavors, full-bodied richness, plenty of upfront fruit and a great finish. It bucks the vintage stereotype and is forward, lush and sexy, yet still has the mid-palate density to keep for another 15-20 years, although there’s no need to delay gratification either.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Blue Line (86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot and the rest Malbec) is rich, with medium to full body, the classic tobacco leaf and crème de cassis notes, and again, very good purity and length. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline wraps around the palate with striking depth. The 2013 has softened quite a bit over the last year, which has allowed the opulence and intensity of the fruit to emerge more fully. Hints of leather, smoke, spice and dark-fleshed fruit are all pushed forward. Drink this racy, supple Cabernet Sauvignon over the next 15-20 years.

A gorgeous, super-expressive wine, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline races from the glass with intense, layered fruit. Mocha, cherry jam, sweet spices, licorice and leather meld into the voluptuous finish in a striking Cabernet Sauvignon built on opulence and texture. Today, the Blueline is much showier than the Estate Cabernet. It will be interesting to see where both wines end up once they are bottled.
