The 2021 Zingaretti Estate Malbec hails from own-rooted vines planted in 1930, fermented with a small portion of whole clusters and matured for 15 months in 50% new barrique. It leads with the most savory bouquet of the Viña Cobos vineyard-designate Malbecs, gradually revealing turned earth, graphite, purple flowers and a black-fruited core. The palate is fleshy, polished and refined, energized by a tensile core of mineral energy that continues through the high-toned, ethereal finish that retains a deep, grounded richness. This is a beautiful, contemporary example of Uco Valley Malbec that should develop beautifully over the coming decade.

The 2021 Malbec Zingaretti Estate was sourced from old vines planted in Villa Bastías, Tupungato. Half of the wine was aged for 15 months in French oak barrels. This purple-hued wine features aromas of violet, freshly crushed plum and delicate wood notes, with hints of cedar and soft caramel. The palate is well-balanced with precise slenderness and fine fruit. It has a juicy mouthfeel and a polished texture, presenting an athletic, sculptural character, a calibrated balance and a lasting, flavorful finish.

Viña Cobos is a pioneering producer in Mendoza, known for being the first Argentinian estate to produce a 100-point wine. Founded and run by star California winemaker Paul Hobbs, Viña Cobos has been instrumental in raising the profile of fine wine in Argentina.
