The first of a 14-wine vertical dating back to 2008, the 2021 Monteverro is a youthful saturated red color and offers a lovely bouquet with pure notes of kirsch, menthol, polished cedar, and violets. Elegant and full-bodied, it floats on the palate with even, ripe tannins, refreshing underlying acidity, and a balanced finish. It leaves a lovely first impression, and if stored properly, it should age gracefully over the coming 15-20 years. Bottle 1387 of 28006.

The organic Monteverro 2021 Monteverro (made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot) is a darkly saturated expression that is tightly focused and linear in presentation but is also quite generous in terms of texture. That pretty duality can be applied to the bouquet and to the mouthfeel, where the wine offers a lot of tonality and volume, all delivered with pretty sharpness.
