Not expensive. Tasted blind. Warm and toasty on the nose. Some fruit underneath. (JR)

The 2022 Carignan seems just a touch overdone on the nose with tinned prune infusing the black fruit. It doesn't quite have the complexity of its peers. The palate is better with grainy tannins and gentle grip. The Cabernet components (15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc) impart attractive graphite and cedar notes towards the finish. Based on the aromatics finding more refinement with time in bottle, this could become a decent Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux, but I would give it three or four years.
