2013 Kaiserberg Riesling Smaragd

Musky, faintly sweaty, faintly smoky, bittersweet, rose-like aromas certainly intrigue. Behind that, lemon, grapefruit and kumquat offer zesty pungency. The oily palate takes on the pungency signaled in the nose and then stubbornly holds it into a finish of formidable grip and almost mouth-shaking energy, to which fortunately, when I retasted it in September, a significant measure of sheer juiciness was added. This is one of those not infrequent 2013s that acts as though a bit of Gewurztraminer had been added.
