The 1955 Guiraud is a vintage that I tasted once before…but I don't remember it being this good! It has the audacity to outflank the 1945 poured alongside it. The bouquet is electrifying with dried honey, saffron, nougat and fresh fig blossoming in the glass. The palate is fresh, vibrant and beautifully balanced with marmalade, apricot and quince. The finale is very long and satisfying with a cheeky strawberry note right on the finish. Glorious! Tasted blind at the "five" dinner at Domaine de Chevalier.
