Score 89/100 · Drink 2014-2018, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2014
Crushed flowers, dried cherries, cranberries, pine and mint are some of the notes that lift from the glass in the 2011 Pinot Noir Durell Vineyard. A delicate, somewhat fragile wine, the 2011 is delicious today, but probably needs to be enjoyed over the next few years. Readers who like aromatic, savory Pinots will find much to admire here. I would like to see a little more mid-palate depth, but I imagine that is a function of the cool growing season. Although it was made from fully destemmed fruit, the Durrell has a lifted quality that is typical of Pinots done with whole clusters.
