Score 88/100 · Drink 2004, Robert Parker, Jan 2000

The ruby-colored 1997 Pinot Noir Carter Vineyard displays baby powder, strawberries, and cherry fruit aromas. Medium-bodied, this wine's character is filled with red/black cherries, tangy blood oranges, hints of tar, as well as spicy oak. Long, with loads of sweet, ripe tannins, Wright's Carter Vineyard has the potential to improve with age. Anticipated maturity: now-2004. Tel: 1-800-571-6825

Medium red, with a hint of amber at the rim. Cherry, raspberry, smoke and underbrush on the nose. Shows more texture and sweetness than the above, but comes across as less fruity and a bit featureless today. Finishes with slightly dry tannins and notes of black cherry and smoky oak. I'd try this again in a year or so.
