Tasting notes
Very thrilling wine that is already round and supple but underneath there lurks explosive flavours which are by no means dominated by the 20% Cabernet ingredient – much less by the 10% Merlot. This is the sort of wine that could slip down quite frighteningly easily, it is just such pure pleasure. A product of passion. I've never tasted a Carmignano better than this. (JR)

Perhaps the finest Carmignano being produced, proprietor Mauro Vanucci has followed his fabulous 1997 with an equally gorgeous 1999 Carmignano Riserva. Aged in 100% new oak, it exhibits a deep, saturated ruby/purple color as well as gorgeous aromas of sweet black fruits intertwined with high class notes of saddle leather, cigar smoke, and licorice. With great intensity, purity, and a palate saturating style, this elegant, brilliant Carmignano will provide immense pleasure over the next 7-8 years. Bravo!
