Tasting notes
The 2021 Barbaresco Rizzi is an attractive, delicate wine. Orange peel, cinnamon, kirsch, tea leaves and cedar give this mid-weight Barbaresco lovely aromatic presence to match its translucent feel. This is very nicely done.

Of these various new releases from Rizzi, I thought this wine had the most character and gumption. The 2021 Barbaresco Rizzi shows good depth of aromas with high tones of cherry, raspberry, cola and pressed violet. The Rizzi MGA sits at 230 to 300 meters above sea level with limestone clay and sandy soils. Production is 13,700 bottles.
Alba. Pale youthful ruby. Sweetly perfumed red fruit that jumps out of the glass. Elegant palate with a core of juicy red fruit framed by finely chiselled yet gripping tannins. Great balance and super-attractive tannic bite on the finish. (WS)
A medium ruby/pinkish hue, the 2021 Barbaresco Rizzi is floral and fruity, with notes of baked strawberries, fresh flowers, peach, and orange. Medium-bodied and bright, it’s well-balanced, with a savory touch of orange pith through the finish, offering a nice snap to the delicately ripe red fruit and clean finish. It’s a very appealing and charming entry to the range from Rizzi. Drink over the next 6-7 years.
