The 2008 Chinon Les Picasses is an authentic representative of the vintage as well as of the domain. The 2008 has a coolish, pure and spicy but concentrated nose with a Pinot-like expression of Cab Franc that comes across as pulpy but less juicy. On the palate, this is a textbook Loire Cabernet: sweet, intense and, believe me, perfectly ripe and balanced but still coolish, precise and finessed with delicate but lingering tannins combined with the sweet and salty finish. This is a gorgeous Chinon with a long and now juicy finish that reveals bitter orange flavors. This is a beautiful wine to drink now and over the next 20 years (at least). Tasted in April 2021.
