Tasting notes
Bevan's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Tin Box is one of the most aromatically intense, lifted wines in this range. The Martini clone Cabernet on this Oakville side yields distinctive, beautifully layered wines. Sweet floral notes, mint, red plum, chocolate and spice all develop in the glass. The 2014 is attractive, but it does not appear to have the explosive depth of the best years. Perhaps that is one of the reasons Bevan is redeveloping this site. Tin Box is owned by Jean Phillips and sits across the road from Rudd in the heart of Oakville.

Another 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Tin Box was 147 cases, aged in three-fourth Taransaud and one-fourth Darnajou barrels. It is a deep, powerful, almost primordial wine, very much in the Bevan style, but with sweet, velevty tannin, gorgeous blue and blackberry fruit, a touch of creosote and camphor. An almost Graves-like scorched-earth is present in this deep, full-throttle, amazingly savory and concentrated , balls-to-the wall Cabernet. Drink it over the next 20+ years.
