Score 90/100 · Drink 2011-2019, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Oct 2011

The dark ruby-colored 2009 Pinot Noir Savoia Vineyard displays both finesse and depth of flavor. Cedar, spice box, incense, black cherry, and black raspberry aromas inform the nose of a medium-bodied, ripe, moderately structured, tasty wine that will continue to provide enjoyment over the next 6-8 years. Ken Wright Cellars’ 2009 Pinot Noirs range from excellent to outstanding in quality but generally lack the structure, density, and richness of the great 2008 vintage. These are pretty, elegant wines to drink while the 2008s continue to fill out in the cellar. Tel. (503) 852-7070; www.kenwrightcellars.com

Bright purple. Ripe cherry and blackberry aromas, along with hints of cola, sassafras and violet. Pliant and broad on entry, then tighter in the middle, offering pungent dark berry and bitter cherry flavors and a touch of candied flowers. Picks up energy with aeration and finishes with tangy cherry and violet notes. Late-arriving, gripping tannins call for some patience.
