Tasting notes
Vivid red. Spicy, vaguely medicinal aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and flowers, with a touch of musky underbrush. Then sappy, sweet and youthfully structured, with excellent verve to the bitter cherry, menthol and anise flavors. This youthfully taut wine really stains the palate, finishing vibrant and long, with strong mineral snap and a late note of vanilla.

The 2007 Pinot Noir Red Hills Estate is a smooth-textured wine with plenty of sweet cherry and raspberry fruit, a touch of tannin, and a lengthy, flavorful finish. Archery Summit is best known for its vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs. However, the winery produces a small quantity of one of the finest Pinot Gris’ of the Willamette. Anna Matzinger, Archery Summit’s winemaker, describes her 2007s as “nervy and vivacious”, a fair characterization. Valley. www.archerysummit.com
