Tasting notes
A full-bodied wine that fills the mouth. The warm vintage shows in the 2015 Clos du Papillon's roundness and fullness, and a wonderful tannic sensation coats the palate. It offers ripe apple fruit and creamy notes; however, this is not about aromatic flamboyance but texture. It is just starting to shed its puppy fat in terms of fruit, heading out on its journey toward maturity, but its structure suggests there's plenty of road ahead. The acidity is lovely, providing plenty of mouthwatering acidity, but it's all in balance. Seductive and maturing.

The 2015 Savennières Clos du Papillon is a rich, powerful white that has impressive purity in its Chenin fruit as well as notes of persimmon, lemon blossom, and dried herbs. It blossoms with time in the glass and has medium to full-bodied richness, beautifully integrated acidity, a kiss of chalky, salty minerality, and a great finish. It’s beautifully done, and I suspect it will continue to evolve gracefully for over a decade. There’s no need to delay gratification, though.
