Showing a deeper ruby hue and classic Cabernet Sauvignon (almost Saint-Julien-like) aromatics, the 2022 Harlan Estate offers pure cassis, graphite, scorched earth, and violets with a beautiful sense of minerality. It's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with solid mid-palate density, ripe, polished tannins, and outstanding length. This is unquestionably a sound, classic, age-worthy 2022 that has tons of character, and while I like it today, it should keep for two decades or so. Drink 2025-2045.

The 2022 Harlan Estate is a very sexy wine. A burst of dark red and purplish fruit makes a strong first impression that shapes the generous entry and mid-palate. A wine with no hard edges and exceptional balance, the 2022 has developed beautifully. Red cherry/plum fruit, blood orange, baking spices, and lavender unfurl effortlessly. The 2022 is an exuberant Harlan Estate that will drink well with minimal cellaring. It's sure to be a huge crowd-pleaser.
Started picking on 17 August and concluded on 7 September. Deep ruby with a hint of purple. Beautiful bouquet laden with gravelly rockiness and an undercurrent of fine ripe fruit. Deep and spicy core of black fruit threaded through with notes of violet, mint and pine. More elegance than power. Impeccable tannin structure – lithe but firm – balanced against fresh acidity. The 2022 Harlan Estate is a superb wine in the making. It exudes notable purity, texture and resonance from start to finish, with lovely mid-palate richness and fine detail. Dark red cherry, plum, cinnamon, menthol and rose petal build in the glass. The 2022 shows a bit more mid-palate juiciness and weight than the 2021 or 2020, but the balance here is just remarkable. I expect this will be one of the wines of the year when it is bottled.
