1998 Domaine Joel Champet Cote-Rotie la Viaillere

Medium red-ruby, with a hint of amber at the rim. Slightly roasted aromas of currant, pepper and gunflint. Rather smooth on the palate, with flavors of pepper and woodsmoke. A wine of moderate complexity and length. Perhaps still a bit stunted by the recent bottling.
