Tasting notes
The 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap possesses the crisp, restrained, lighter-bodied style of wines from that region. Sweet black cherries intermixed with floral scents are present in the wine's aromatics. In the mouth, tar and floral characteristics combine with black fruit to give this Cabernet an enthralling, supple, approachable style. There is some tannin in the finish, and the wine is more austere than the Napa bottling, but it should drink well for 12-15 years. Tel. (707) 259-9463 and (800) MONDAVI; Fax (707) 963-1007
