Tasting notes
The 2022 Zinfandel Pagani Ranch shows the ripeness of the year in its candied fruit profile. Sweet spice, cedar and pipe tobacco appear later, adding quite a bit of complexity. That all works quite well in exalting varietal Zinfandel character.

The 2022 Zinfandel Pagani Ranch comes from two sections, the older section planted in 1895, and the eastern side planted in 1920 and heavy in Alicante Bouschet, which makes up 6% of the blend. A youthful red ruby color, this Zinfandel leaps from the glass with aromas of preserved strawberries, a touch of pretty blue fruit, fresh violets, and dusty earth. Medium-bodied, it floats on the palate with a weightless feel and has refined tannins and a graceful feel through the long finish. It’s lovely all the way through and has a beautiful stony texture. Drink 2025-2035.
