Score 92+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2014
(90% new oak): Vivid ruby. Deeper and more masculine than the Chico's Hill bottling, displaying cassis, dark chocolate, peppery spice and floral scents, along with a touch of beef jerky. Chewy dark fruit flavors slowly open to show a suave floral pastille quality and a hint of fruitcake. Stains the palate on the youthfully tannic, intense, sharply focused finish.

About the producer

Martinelli
Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
